A new school year brings about the opportunity to teach students new skills that become the foundation for their next academic challenges. Many children with special needs have more challenges than those in their peer group when it comes to learning new material. Every student learns differently and at a different pace. Some students struggle, without proper accommodations, to learn new information and exhibit comprehension of learned information.
Support with learning
Tutoring can support students with much needed guidance to learn and exhibit comprehension of academic information. Tutors work with students to help them identify where they struggle in the learning process and how they can best learn new information.
One-on-one aides provide support in school as the lesson is taking place in which they may repeat or rephrase instruction and keep the student on task. They may provide manipulatives or other material that may aide the student in effectively participating in the learning process.
Purpose of worksheets
A worksheet does not take the place of an instructor and is not a tool to teach a new skill. Worksheets are useful to help students exhibit knowledge of learned information by showing their ability to perform a learned skill. Worksheets are meant to be completed with independence to test the student's current skill level.
Special Ed Worksheets
Our worksheets accommodate learners who may struggle with completing traditional worksheets. We do this by:
Simplifying instructions
Reducing the amount of tasks to be performed per page
Providing multiple opportunities to perform the same skill
Simplifying the response process
Our worksheets are a great tool to help students practice learned skills and increase their proficiency in task completion over time at a level that best accommodates their current skill level.
